Okay Guys & Gals, This is what I found out about my doggy running "D". After siphoning out all the fuel (it still tastes bad after 24 hours) I saw the bottom of the tank. In there was an extra washer and a hose clamp with a small part of hose still connected laying in the bottom of the tank. As I retrieved them, I noticed my hands had become quite "black" from touching in the tank. I pulled the baffle and lines, the fuel sending unit, and then put a full sized bath towel in the tank to soak up any residual fuel. When I started, the towel was pink, and it is now, totally, the exact color of a lump of coal. (It's also real hard to get off your hands.) When I finished cleaning the tank, I noticed that it was a nice shade of gray, instead of the black I started with. :-) The screen was covered with the same crap and that was why I wasn't getting any fuel into the engine. I cleaned it with a tooth brush, and installed a new return line, new fuel filter, and then took the wife's vacuum and ran it all over the inside of the tank. Many little bits of hose, and some large pieces, were still in the tank, but this got all that out. Incidently, don't let your wife see the vacuum hose before you clean it, if you use this technique!!! They can become awful irate over a little bit of black shit. :-) The car fired up, but it still isn't perfect. But that will have to wait until I can get it out on the highway for more than 30 miles. I want to make sure I solved the fuel problem before I start messing with other things. Thanks for all your inputs and I'll keep your posted on how it progresses.
