The only problem I have with going to a class II is that it is rated for 3500lb GTW and I don't know how a D could handle that much behind it. It could be fine but I don't need anyone coming back to and saying that they totaled their car cause of a hitch I built for their car, even if it was cause they were doing something stupid. But to build a class II style receiver yet only rate it as a class I could work.
