Just thought I'd let you know how things worked out with this damaged torsion bar: It didn't. We had to install a new bar. With some very small files I was able to clean up the end and then with a plastic hammer I tapped the retaining plate on & off several times until it fit like a new bar. Then when we went to put the bar back on, the end grew too fat again to fit in the retaining plate. Bummer. The moral of the story: Be sure the torsion bar is fully seated. Don't over-torque a bar to make up for a weak strut. Hope that the previous owner didn't phuque it up. Walt Yahoo!
