I just went through exactly this and came up with (what i think is an) excellent solution. No one i have talked to has a portable crimper. I certainly don't have one. When I had the guys make the hose, I had them also put in an extra "in-line" connector in the hose. In the front for the high side and in the rear for the low side (becuase of room available). It was a simple male-female connector. This way, I could "thread" the tubes into the frame, and then still have all hydraulic crimps and high-pressure connections on all the hoses. My low side was tough coming out, so I moved from 5/8th to 1/2 in. on that side. The AC place I went to didn't think this would make much of a difference.
