Citroen Hydro-pneumatic systems have power brakes where the brake pedal operates a valve. The rear brakes are fed from the rear suspension (which is self-levelling) giving the clever side-effect of increasing the braking on the rear when the load in the back of the car is greater. Brakes, Suspension and steering are all fed with a 2500psi hydraulic system driven by a pump running off the engine. I've owned a BX and drive a Xantia, both with variants of this system. The Xantis is one of the best systems with computer controlled pitch and roll correction, self-levelling regardless of load, and that all important "sports mode" switch :-) Martin > The only time I have seen "hydraulic" power brakes is on a 1 ton late '70s > GMC pickup truck.
