I just always assumed it was the L.A. roads that made driving a D 
miserable.

I'll listen for a bad bearing again.  As for the alignment, I just 
had a four-wheel done when I replaced the tie rods (in an attempt to 
improve handling).  Perhaps they didn't do the aligment correctly.  
How do you "check" an alignment at home?
