Hi All where the handbrake cable attaches to the rear caliper, you have a bolt thing which attaches to the handbrake lever with a nut holding it (item 9 on this page http://www.pjgrady.com/partcat_detail.asp?m=79&t=Parking+Brake&ad=18). At some point in the past, someone was a bit over-enthusiastic putting the nut on my pass side and stripped the threads. This meant I had to grind the nut off to detatch the cable from the caliper. From what I can see on the link above, I can't just replace this pin/bolt, it is in fact all part of the handbrake cable - am I correct that I now need a new cable assembly? You may be interested to learn that the caliper is a 1976-84 Jag, and the handbrake mechanism is IDENTICAL EXCEPT for the way the cable mounts to the lever - the lever itself is different. I've set mine off to be rebuilt but got a pair of rebuilt calipers off the shelf at a local supplier Martin (UK) #1458 #4426 (currently in a lot of bits) ------------------------ Yahoo!
