We all talk about Deloreans overheating and we spend lots of time and money keeping the engine coolant at the proper temp. Just wondering how many of you have temp guages that barely move in the winter time? It has beena cold 2 months here on the east coast. Even when I drive my car for 45 minutes the needle barely goes above the 100 mark (first line). I know when I sit in traffic it does go up a little. Anyone else notice during the winter their temp guage does not seem to go up much? As usual I expect the worse and wonder if the engine coolant temp should reach the normal 185+- despite the external temp being so cold... I bought it new. I believe that the recalls were prior to my cars "birth" date, but in any event I did not receive any recall notices. In fact, even "warranty" work went out the window. I purchased my car in Sept 82. On the day I took it back to the dealer (Tate Cadillac, Pomona CA) for it's "30 day" warranty check-up, I was asked if I had read the morning's paper. I said, "No, why". I was told that JZD had been arrested the night before and therefore, all warranty work was cancelled. Fortunately the cars in that vin range were some of the best assembled and I didn't really have any early ownership problems.
