I have added acetone to my fuel tank (not a Delorean). It didn't cause much difference, as far as I could tell. It's very toxic. I doubt it improves mileage anyway. Toluene, on the other hand, caused a big improvement in how smooth the engine ran, right up until all the crap it dissolved off of the inside of the gas tank gummed up my intake. I had to reline the tank because of that little experiment. Now I don't add stuff to my fuel except octane booster, and then only when it needs it, because it lowers mileage. There is no escaping the laws of physics, and no free lunch. It's easy to improve gas mileage. Just run the engine hot enough to burn up prematurely.
