Most concept cars are destroyed after the testing. It has something to do with the DOT agreement to allow them to be registered without the normal testing procedures. It's been pretty standard since the '50's. Many of these cars survived only because people like Brant Rosenbusch over at Chrysler hid them away. That's why there are only a couple of the turbine cars around. The Cadillac Cyclone in GM's corporate headquarters lobby was also "certified as destroyed", but it was discovered about 10 years ago hidden in a warehouse, covered with plywood and such. It was the same for the GM Firebird I, II etc. as I recall a well - hidden, then rediscovered at a later point. ________________________________ From: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Bob Brandys Sent: Sunday, September 09, 2007 5:00 PM To: DMCForum@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [DMCForum] RE: [DML] 50 Worst Cars-What Moron Wrote This? Why did GM not only scrap BUT SHREDDED this cars? The only other cars that GM has ever shredded are the INDY pace cars. Do you have any idea what the AC Propulsion drive train in these cars were worth? Any person interested in building an EV would drop willingly drop $10,000 on a used AC Propulsion system. There are NONE! These go for $25K new and there is no spare capacity. These cars were destroyed on purpose! Bob [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
