Hi Lauren, I fully understand about privacy and private feedback, but, (and please correct me if I am wrong), there is no such thing as "applying to be a preapproved bidder". That's what all these scammers are pulling. It is a dead give away when the seller states in the title that you must contact them to be able to bid. There is "NO" such thing on Ebay, you register, you bid, and you win or not. You can be a first time bidder, and if you have followed the rules, you can win. What these scammers are doing is trying to make contact with you and then offering you the DOD (deal of the decade). I have contacted several of them, a couple dozen or so, if for no other reason than to keep them busy thinking they have a sucker on the hook. They will keep trying to explain that your hard earned money needs to go via Western Union to a third party, that way, you have no recourse, but only if you are willing enough to send the $$$$$ to someone who you don't know, in a city a thousand miles away, with no receipt of any kind. My latest ploy with these people is to go all the way with them, just to the point of sending money, and then, telling them, "Oh, by the way, my brother lives in your town, and I'd like for him to come over and look at the vehicle, just to check the VIN plates". I have yet to hear back from a single one of them. On a positive note, Ebay ran a fake auction just this past week, so I think they have received enough complaints that they are going to get serious about policing Delorean ads. Last, Greg is absolutily right about bidding the car out of sight, if it is a scam. I was in on a Vega that finally sold for just under 800k this past year. Those folks in Nigeria must have thought they hit the mother lode, until it came time to collect.
