That's exactly what I was thinking.  We did a complete brake upgrade on a
local owner's car and the driver's front rotor was stuck on the car.  When
it was finally forced off the bearing fell in pieces to the garage floor.

I had a similar problem, but going forward. Once I replaced the front 
bearings, the car now drives straighter too! When I pulled the old ones 
off, one of the bearings on the problem wheel completely separated! I think 
water managed to get in and cause the bearing to fail.
