I agree with that, and I am sure it can get too much at times.
Unfortunately as more and more large vehicles are out there being used, the
smaller cars are the ones being put out.
I have also seen as many accidents here in Fl as you have in NJ, and while I
am sure you will argue you see most of them being SUV's and such, I will
argue that that's because there are more of them to have accidents with ( I
saved you a few keystrokes :) ). In the end I see the wrecks, and the cars
are USUALLY the worse for wear, even when it is a one car accident against a
wall or bridge. Hence, I would want the better vehicle for such accidents,
or the best among my choices (be it price, style, functionality, or just the
luck of what dealerships have the best service and support).

For me, the visibility issue is more about frequency.
Sure, we all know how to be patient and operate a car
safely when there is limited visibility.. But because
of the increasing number of large vehicles on the
road, these situation are becoming more frequent.
You may not notice it because you are already driving
a large vehicle yourself, but for someone who drives a
regular car 99% of the time it can become frustrating.
