I'd say it brings out a person's true nature - which can be the "best"
or the "worst" depending on the person. People who don't know the
car, or aren't into cars, don't care. It brings out nothing in them.
However, for those who do know the car, their responses are extreme in
some direction.
1. People who are "good" inside (for lack of a better word) go wild.
They're excited, they ask questions, etc. I've held wonderful
conversations with countless people -- complete strangers -- since
buying my DeLorean.
2. People who are generally angry and bitter and self-serving get
nasty. They can't handle the fact that you have whatever they perceive
a DeLorean owner would have (the car itself, money, status, prestige,
you name it), while they don't.

Yep. Every time cars come up in mixed company, I can see friends look
my way and smile because they know I've got the car that tops all
others in the room. I simply sit back, enjoy the conversation and keep
my mouth shut. I wait for someone to ask me point blank; usually a
friend brings it up before then. But I don't want to throw it on the
table myself. Honestly, what kind of self-centered person does that?
"Yeah, Joey here has a sweet Honda, and it-- " "Well, *I've* got a
*DeLorean*."
Talk about a quick way to ensure everybody hates you and your car.
