Bob,
Without getting political, if you would have listened to -any- news program,
watched the evening news, or taken five seconds to search on the web you
would have learned...
"The Transportation Department dispatched more than 400 trucks to move 5.4
million MREs, or ready-to-eat meals; 13.4 million liters of water; 10,400
tarps; 4,900 rolls of plastic sheeting; 3.4 million pounds of ice; 10 mobile
homes; 144 generators; 20 containers of disaster supplies; 135,000 blankets;
11,000 cots; 200 tables; 450 chairs; 1 all-terrain vehicle; 19 forklifts and
three 100-person and nine 50-person field office kits to flood damaged areas
for FEMA."

In fact, the list I saw on TV was longer than that. If you were in this
area, you would see miles of tree trimming, construction, and electrical
company trucks running down the road on the way to south Louisiana.
What is your definition of "terribly slow"? The last I heard, just today
actually, was the water rising because of the levy break. I don't know how
you can get much faster than that.
If everything going in the world was all about some oil conspiracy, and if
that oil conspiracy were true, then wouldn't we see some massive air lift
operation to get people in there to restore the refineries so the elite can
keep their pockets lined with money? Of course it's always much more
interesting to believe in conspiracy and plotting than what may actually be
going on.
If what's going on now is not good enough for you, do something about it
other than complaining.
Greg

I think the emergency response to Katrina is deplorable. The news
people can find thousands of people with no food or water and the
government has done nothing.
The US government can drop free food and water in foreign countries but
they can't do it here.
I wonder why? Oh yes, the army is off fighting an illegal war and too
busy to help the US citizens.
Even the national guard is understaffed because they are in Iraq.
How come nobodies asking questions about the terribly slow response to
help these US citizens?
10% of all our gasoline is refined in one place. That's stupid.
Years ago, the Defense department never allowed US manufacturing and
refining to be so centralized,, because it was a defense risk. What
happened to that policy. ?
I know it existed because at Johnson & Johnson we met with DOD every
year to guarantee that all our manufacturing was scattered around the
country.
