BTW alternative fuels are legal over here, but you can get prosecuted 
for using them on the road without paying road fuel duty. The trick is 
that there's no mechanism in place for consumers making their own fuel 
to actually pay the duty, so just write off to the tax man, declare 
you've made 50 litres and ask for a bill. Pay it, get a receipt and 
flash that at anyone who ever stops you.

BTW the exhaust does not smell of chips if the diesel's modern enough to 
have a cat
