No, the only person here who gets screwed over is Jerry Ryan. Not
those of us who are investing in the switches. We've gotten our
switches in under market price @ $40 each (even lower for the first,
if yourhave a BRP to discount the first one). So were fine. However,
if Jerry has to cut his price down to $25 to unload his unwanted
stock, then his loss is greater. Not only is there his *potential*
loss of $100 versus our $15, but it's also multiplied several times
over, versus however many switches he's in possession of. Even though
of course we're simply arguing prices here based upon what we *assume*
his after price is going to be, as well as what we think his remaining
stock might be, let alone what he may possibly have paid for it.
And as far as negotiating with this guy with retooling the parts as a
leverage is concerned, that's just another assumption that he'd sell
these parts cheap. And even if he did have 300 switches, that's only a
3 year supply. Assuming that these are both retail sales, and includes
what is sold to other vendors. So, 4 years later, we're in the same
damn boat. What then, Marc? Now we have to go through this whole damn
retooling thing anyway, AND many people will have overpaid, and lost
money as the price of these switches went up. And that's money that
was lost to our community, because it could very well have been spent
on other parts. No, become self-sufficient and retool now, and we
secure our future of parts that much sooner, as well as cut our long
term losses. Remember, once this order is complete, we'll then have
the parts dies to remake the switches again in the future, with less
overhead cost during the next round. And if DMCH starts building cars
again within the next couple of years, the demand for these switches
will increase even further.
No, I'm no communist. I am however someone who likes to fight
opprotunists at every chance I get. Profiteering is fine. But there
needs to be an earned profit to justify a price, and not just an
artificial inflation to justify a price increase. Why should someone
increase the price of something, for an unjustified reason? Now, as
for the supply and demand aspect here, no, I don't believe the
switches are valued at $130. Did I pay for it? Yes I did. Was I a damn
fool for doing so? You bet your ass I was! It's a regret that I have.
Kind like overpaying for supplies in time of emergency. And once these
new switches from DMCH get released, I'm gonna take an even further
hit financially. But my princials to keep things affordable for
everyone, and desire to get back at someone for overcharging me, are
far more valuable IMO.
