Right, but what I'm trying to say is: A "real" car manufacturer
wouldn't let you get off so easily. They'd simply charge an arm and a
leg for the flux capacitor to make up for the "lost sales" of people
jumping to 2015 for their hover conversions.

Or they'd pressure congress into passing a law making time travel for
the purposes of circumventing 1981 hover conversion prices illegal.
They'd call such actions "stealing" and refer to those engaging in it
as "time pirates".
