And Americans continue to use 10 splines -- in high torque truck and
SUV applications at least (I believe our little front wheel drive
passenger cars are now as wimpy as the rest of the world's).
Note that American splines are not only twice as wide, but twice as
deep as well. The amount of contact area is thus basically equivalent.
I really see no advantage in all those little splines.
