Walt,

Over hear in the UK we have a chain of motor stores 
called 'Halfords' (I think they are just UK based) amazingly you can 
take in any old side mirrors, includin the DMC ones, and they will 
use it as a pattern to create a convex one. How cool is that!

I think they charge £45 per pair (about $80) which I suppose isn't 
too bad if you only ever have to buy one set.

I don't know if any of your USA motor places would offer that 
service, if they do it may save you a lot of blood, sweat and tears 
:-)
