I think the key to making a cool display-based system for the DeLorean
would be to keep with the retro-space-age theme. If you take a look
at movie such as ALIENS, or Terminator, etc. The computers in those
movies are very primitive with the classical green text on a black
background, and a blocky-looking font. This is the theme that I think
fits the DeLorean best.
One of the ideas I've always had was a monitor (TFT or otherwise)in
the center console that simply reflects changes in the car. That is,
normally this display would show the time, temperature, direction,
etc. Then, if someone opened the door, the display would quickly
change to show an animation of the door opening, then switch back to
the previous display. If the engine was started, it would switch to a
side view of the car with the silhouette of the engine flashing.
On the subject of cool stuff, I think another one would be if someone
could rig it up so that steam is expelled from the ventillation ducts
of the dash/door when it's opened :) Can you picture it?
