Yeah, but I am going to build another one from scratch.
The one I bought is pretty cool, but out of date.
I plan to use some of the new better stuff that is out there and make
everything functional.
Rather than rip this car apart it is smarter to sell it as-is and start from
scratch.
I want to do a ground up restoration on a junker, put new everything on it,
and a totally fuinctional interior.
The car I have now basically has a lot of cool looking blinky lights
that don't do anything.
The car I am going to build will have all functional parts.
Most of the buttons will activate some sort of gadget or sound effect.
The two TV screens will be more than just CRT's for looks, but will actually
do stuff.
The finished product might not be "screen accurate" but hey, I gotta drive
this sucka!
One thing you will notice about my current KITT, and all KITT's is that
there are no VENTS.
There is only a small vent for the defroster, but nothing forward or down.
This makes having AC a little hard.
I plan to rework the dash with some pop-up vents that will rise out of the
dash and blow
right at me and the passenger.
I also want to add crusie control, and have all the gauges function with
other parts of
the car.... for instance there are no "idiot lights" on the dash like the
original has,
so you have no idea if the "check engine" or "oil" lights are on, there are
also no
inside turn signal indicators.
All of these things will be addressed on the new dash I build and these
things will be incorporated
into the mock-up displays to serve a double function.
The car I have no is cool and looks cool, but it is not as functional as a
regular car in some ways.
But considering a turnkey would cost you about $50,000 I think my asking
price of $20,000
is a OK considering the new crate 350 I have in it, and how good of shape it
is.
Once I am finished with the TIME MACHINE, and the next KITT, I will start on
ECTO-1.
