I just love going up there and oogling all the cars that I might not 
otherwise ever see in real life.  Before I bought 10440, I looked at 
the 2 D's on the auction block last year but I wasn't quite done doing 
my homework so I didn't register as a bidder.  It's also something 
like $300 to register plus an 8% fee of the buying price if I 
remember. They went for what I thought were low prices, but then 
again I really hadn't checked out the cars.  One with 4K miles had 
been in storage for a long time and I don't recall ever seeing it 
actually running.   I do keep an eye on the auction list as it grows.
