I only wish you were that easy to get rid of.  :-)

The filter is smart enough to chop off only when the sponsor banner starts 
in column 1 (that's what the ^ means), so quoted sponsor banners don't get 
lopped off.

I'm sure there are various diabolical ways to foul it up, like top-quoting 
with no ">" prefix, but I've been using this filter for years and I'm not 
aware of it ever having eaten something it shouldn't.
