I don't think my car has that.
Yes. The original one was gone, and this is a fiberglass replacement from the carz previous owner. I have some better pics of it somewhere that I will try to get online. As I remember the fiberglass had an official looking logo that said something like DeLorean Custom Glass (tm).
Okay, I had a morning dose of caffeine. I realized I didnt show a pic of how the fans mount to the aluminum. It would appear that the bolt heads would protrude denting the radiator. I resolved this by using pan head phillips screws counter-sunk into the aluminum. To cut the counter-sink, I used a deburring bit. This is basically a wide short drill bit that is made to clean sharp edges off of newly cut holes. If you go nuts with it, you can use it to make a decent funnel-like hole where a pan head screw fits nicely.
It would seem that having a flat fan mounted flush with a radiator would block areas -- especially in the center of the fan. In practice, this duhzent seem to matter especially considering that many new cars are built with this configuration. In my next install, I might find a way to make brackets that dont lay flush with the radiator. Maybe Ill use the aluminum on edge or position it on the other side of the plastic mounting ears. These fans are so flat that they give plenty of room to make a deep shroud if you wanted. But the operative word here is _deep_ or else it would restrict air more than direct it.
If the 12" fans wernt enough then next we were going to fit 14" fans. But these would have been bigger than the radiator. So we would have mounted them in some kind of shroud that would hold them at angles. Seriously tho, the 12" fans are overkill. They run incredibly quiet and draw about half the current as the original fans. They draw so little current, in fact, that you may find that you can return this part of your carz electrical system back to stock using the blue fan fail relay. If it had melted internally, you may be able to re-solder it with a TIG welder. Who woulda thunk it? These fans obviate the want for fancy electrical engineering such as FanZilla, but it wouldnt hurt to use FanZilla anyway if you feel safe in not having the Fan Fail light warn of an open circuit.
If one of these fans ever failed, you have enough room to replace it on the fly without moving the sway bar like how is needed to deal with the bulky original fans. In summary I can say that the only disadvantage I can see from doing this upgrade is that it duhzent look or sound or deplete the carz electrical system like the stock configuration. And the only disadvantage I can see with my intentional misspelling is that maybe it is unconventional. But then if you drive a DeLorean then you are likely an unconventional person anyway. Language needs to evolve. Letz set some new standards. And while we are upgrading things, upgrade your foot wear. Without shoes your feet stay cooler and work more efficiently like your car will with better fans. People may notice, but then they notice the car you drive... Thatz their problem.
