And now I have to disagree with you, Bob.  I invest in properties and
rent them.

Here's why I disagee -- my rental income goes back into the
economy and the community and that does create jobs.   Or at least
it supports jobs.  I don't do much of the work myself, I pay people to
do it.  Mostly because some of it is just to hard for me to do.  I pay
handymen, roofers, plumbers, electricians, laborers, drywallers,
painters, glaziers, etc etc.  I pay taxes that go back to the economy
and support the schools, county medical care, road maintenance,
etc etc.  The commissions I have paid a realtor (OK, he's my friend,
but nonetheless...) are well spent on his toys and lifestyle.  I bought
a Delorean and keep a mechanic in business :}  The mortgages I pay
support the people who work at the loan companies.  I could go on
and on, but you get my drift.  And bottom line is that the people
whose houses I've bought are merrily spending their profits too!
