I think that is listed in the owners handbook.  But like
you, I'm too lazy to look.  I think it is the same bulb as
is used in the courtesy light.

I doubt that LEDs would work very well back there.  The bulb
is mounted in a non-reflective hole and is not made to aim
in any direction.  So if you put LEDs there, you are going
to need a very bright array of them that can be made to
point at the license plate.

I bet in a few more years that LEDs will take the place of
most incandescents.
