[DMCForum] Contemporary Work Trucks Are Disposable Too

Our company has a late model Chevy (1996?) work truck with a computer
controlled automatic transmission that has lost its mind. Jumps
randomly in and out of overdrive. Cost to repair is too high, so
they're going to transfer the utility body to a new chassis and
jetison the rest of a perfectly good vehicle.
Can't replace the transmission with a valve bodied model because the
speedometer pickup is electrical, not gear driven. There also are
onboard computer sensors attached to the transmission, without which
the engine wouldn't run (or wouldn't run right).
This is progress?
