My fire department buddy just tuned up a relative's recent vintage VW Golf. Tried to check the auto trans fluid -- no dip stick! VW dealership confirmed he wasn't dreaming -- there's no way to check or fill the transmission without a special machine attached to the drain plug (which they didn't have by the way). I guess you're supposed to get rid of the car before the fluid goes bad or the seals start to leak. Amazing. Bill Robertson #5939
