Um, why do coil packs suck?

Let see, modern engines use coil packs so the ignition
can be infinitely controlled via the engine control
computer as opposed to a mechanical distributor which
needs lots of extra crap on it to regulate the
timing...

Oh, and the coil pack can be mounted directly to the
spark plug, eliminating those high-voltage ignition
wires.
