Even non-muscle cars of the era still could have some oomph.  My 1968
Cadillac Deville Convertible came stock with 375 HP (and 525 ft-lbs of
torque -- added that for Bill).  Despite it's weight, it can toast most of
the other cars of the era, and do so almost silently.
 
And yes, I have considered that 472/500 engine for the DeLorean.... =)
