I didn't use mastic or liquid latex. After I ripped up 2" of mortar
set in a steel-wire mesh, I laid 2 sheets of concrete-like
backerboard. Then I laid this "Versabond" quick-set mortar, and set
the tile in the mortar. I used Versabond "DeLorean grey" grout. No $hit.

If this was wrong, sue me. I'm Tim Taylor, not Bob Villa. I followed
the instructions on the package. What more do you want? :)
