OK: the crap in my engine was Cosmoline. It's a preservative to keep
moisture from rusting the aluminum cooling system(!). Disolves with
solvent, not water. Wish I'd known that before.
Guys at the Diesel Shop managed to clear my coolant lines at lunch.
Ran clear water through the system, in both directions, for 15 minutes
or so (65 PSI). Have been test driving the car no problem since.
For the time being at least Pigeon Forge is back on (DeLo-wise).
My car is 2 steps beyond filthy. Of 1001 things I wanted to accomplish
before the big show, I finished *NONE* (engine swap wasn't on the
list). My vehicle will be a dark blot on everyone's silver parade, but
today at least it appears capable of making an appearance.
Fellow at the Diesel Shop digitally photographed my dual exhaust,
motor mount extensions, and damaged Renault block. As soon as he
eMails the pics I'll upload them to a Forum photo album.
