[DMCForum] evaporator hell was... evaporator is back out

I took the evaporator out of the parts car and damaged it
enough that I can't use it without having it repaired.  The
low side line just would not come off of the accumulator.  I
ended up cutting the accumulator to get it apart.  The
connection was so corroded that  I wiped the corners off the
bolt/sleeve.  I also didn't cut far enough away from it
which damaged the seat for the o-ring.

I called up DMCH to see if they had any new evaporators.  No
such luck.  The local shop that was supposed to make new
ones for them didn't.

Had a really interesting conversation with James Espey.  He
knows what a blabber mouth I am, so here's what he told me:
DMCH is working on making new cars and said that the
evaporators that are going into it might be able to be made
to fit the old cars.  New cars?  DeLoreans?  He said that
they might have something ready to bring to the Pigeon Forge
show.  I'm curious to see.

Meanwhile there are two other DeLoreans sitting around that
I can grab the evaporators from.  Maybe one of those will be
good, or maybe that local shop can repair one of the damaged
ones in time.  Note to Mike & Rich: start liberally soaking
the evaporator lines in penetrating oil so that hopefully we
can get them apart without issue.  For insurance, I might
bring a repaired evaporator with me if that local shop can
get them repaired in time.

The hole in the new line that was soldered to my original
evaporator two years ago is not even visible.  I don't think
the hole was even caused by boring out the pipe crooked.
The new pipe has a pattern of slices/crimps, and in addition
to my boring the ID large enough for the orifice, this must
have caused the leak.

I'm getting pretty good at removing evaporators now.  Damn
it.

I dropped two sets of hoses off to have the rubber replaced.
They will call back Monday with a quote & say how much extra
it will cost to sleeve them in stainless steel braid.  Rich:
How much extra are you willing to spend on stainless steel
braid?  The cost without is around $200.

Projects yet to do is replace the radiator and the fuel
accumulator.  The car is developing a hot start problem, and
I don't want this to be an issue on the trip.
