My mirror had some double-faced tape on it when I bought the car. The
mirror was floppy; almost useless since everything in my rear-view
mirror "bounced around" even on smooth road. I scraped the backing off
and put it back on the car with superglue, of all things. Works fine
now. Nice and solid.
I suppose if I were to yank on it there is a chance of the windshield
breaking, but I doubt it. I think the superglue would give or the
plastic of the mirror mount would break long before the glass. Anyway,
it's been fine for a month and I don't anticipate any problems.
