I've heard you say that the DeLo distributor is missing one of its
counter weights or some such. Guess it has a rather flat advance curve.
My A series block came complete with a distributor (and Bougicord
wireset!). I'm going to leave it in place rather than swapping for my
Renault. Since both are timed 10 degrees, should perform similarly.
Build date cast into the heads is 3/85. Automotive A series was phased
out after 1979. This particular engine was destined for a barge bilge
pump, so I guess Douvrin kept producing carbureted manifolds for
industrial applications. Norman Preser (the German fellow who bought
the other engine) claims all the casting number are Volvo, versus Renault.
