What do you make them from and what were they originally? I know from
bitter eperience that petroleum-based products should be kept away from
natural rubber. Nitrile - that's a different matter.
I have a citroen with hydro-pneumatic suspension - it uses a mineral
based hydraulic fluid for steering, brakes and suspension. You should
never let that hydraulic fluid get anywhere near a standard DOT4 system,
nor get brake fluid anywhere near my citroen because the seals get eaten
in no time.
