If you jump the pressure switch on the accumulator the compressor should
energize and the cooling fans should come on when the mode switch is turned
to AC.

DO NOT run the compressor until you have the system sealed up, evacuated,
charged with oil and refrigerant.

If you want to test the fan circuit, do it while the engine is turned off,
that way you will not ruin the AC compressor.

Make sure that you plug the open lines so that excess moisture does not get
into your system.

Dave's instructions seem very good. I like the idea of R-134a because 
it's more environmentally friendly and I can do the work myself. As 
summer approaches, I'm really interested in fixing my A/C.

That said, beyond basic refridgeration theory, I don't really 
understand the A/C system. I know Walt is also good with A/C systems.

Step 1: Evaluation.
Currently the condensor is removed from the car. All other components 
are installed and the compressor is hooked up.
Question: My fans do not switch on when I put the mode switch 
on "max" or "norm" A/C positions. What part of the A/C system is 
responsible for this? Where should I look?
