Shee-it!  That's not the way to trouble-shoot something --
to replace a suspect part with another suspect part.

Buzzing is good.  Rattles are not so good.  Grinds are bad.
Is the pump intake submerged in fuel when this happens?  Is
there a hole in the fuel suction hose?  Did the pump suck up
some debris?  Are you using a filter/sock over the pump
inlet?  These pumps seem to be very sensitive to even small
mounts of debris.
I have heard that people have run these pumps momentarily in
reverse to dislodge junk.  But I don't think you could to
that with the check valve installed.

this?
I lost track of your original post, but as I remember, both
of the fuel pump numbers are good for the DeLorean.  I think
one was the OEM version with the check valve built in, and
the other is the standard replacement with a seperate
screw-on check valve.  The check valve in either case
shouldn't be an issue unless you try to reverse-flush it.
And by all means -- keep a fire extinguisher handy.  Sparky
electrical connections & fuel vapors are not a good thing to
mix.
