I met Ken at the ETDOC meet in 2002 which was held a few months before
Memphis. He was talking about the idea of doing the show here back then.
I don't know why he selected it though. However, Pigeon Forge is a great
spot for a show like this. The town holds several large car shows
(several thousands cars at each show, mainly classic american motorcars)
every year. On average, the area (consisting of three cities-
Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg) sees 11 million people every
year as tourists. It is finely suited as a gathering place for groups
like ours. 
 
This is, of course, coming from a local. I live and work in Sevierville.
I don't have to drive any kind of distance to go to the show this year!
