Fortunately I only lost 16 hours of vacation time, but it turns out it's 
a good thing that I didn't go on the trip as I had a slight cold which 
would have doubtless reduced my endurance for a lengthy drive, and been 
exacerbated by change in climate.

Everything works out in the end.

One way or another. ;)
