Probably the same reason you can't put a Volvo 760 4-speed auto box in a 
DeLorean - that's a front engine, RWD car. The DeLorean needs a front 
wheel drive tranny where the transaxle can be mounted the other way 
around, or a native RWD, rear engine g'box like a 911
