In case nobody's noticed: #5939 isn't the only car in my driveway. Currently have 3 others out of service, demanding my attention. For some reason my headliners (or lack thereof) seem to worry everyone EXCEPT me. I've actually gotten quite used to the vehicle without them. Kind of like the prototype that had stainless headliners. Purchased #5939 June 2002 with 14K on odometer. Currently reads in the neighborhood of 21K, plus 1K - 2K while angle drive was broken. Before I started buying spare PRV's was my primary going to DC vehicle. Total investment now exceeds $9,000, easily making it the most expensive car I have ever owned (cost of Lincoln Mark V ownership is less than $5,000, totally restored). #5939's epitath has already been written. Will be driven long and hard until wheels fall off. Of course I maintain it to fleet standards, but even as well designed and built as it is: it is a machine with a finite life span. Until then do not expect to see it presented as a show piece (it isn't). At Pigeon Forge, for example, I am parking OUTSIDE in the Convention Center parking lot. If some DeLoreans can be compared to fine tailored menswear, worn to church on Sunday, mine is like an old pair of blue jeans worn all other days of the week. Louie is more than welcome to help me replace those tired 4x10 speakers, but he is NOT allowed to break my interior panels in two pieces (did anybody else catch NEWS Message #37828). I think I've even offered to recover the headliners for him for all of the help he's given me with my DeLos. That's really the only thing cosmetically wrong with the car that stands out. His DeLo has proven to be more reliable than the both of mine combined lol. By the way Bill- bring those speakers Saturday and we'll get them put in your car. Installing them shouldn't be *TOO* painful... > > Out of curiosity... how many miles has everyone put on their DeLoreans since they purchased them? I put about 2k on my first one in 2 years, and more than 2k on my second one in 2 months. I ask because I'm sure you've put more miles on your car in 1 year of ownership than I did in two with my other DeLo Rich. I didn't trust the stupid thing to get around the block without incident. It was finally starting to get sorted out about the time it was plowed over though. Oh well... it's just a car! -Louie > > _____________________________________________________________ > Buy and sell stocks in NFL teams! Get paid dividends every time your team wins!
