Bill: I don't think I've ever posted a bio of myself so here's a Reader's Digest read for you. I'm from NC originally, coincidentally. Now I'm in New Orleans. I still have family and friends in Charlotte and thereabouts, so I drive up there fairly often for visits. While I was living there, drove to Greensboro, Raleigh, many of the other towns in North Carolina that were more picturesque than Charlotte (nearly all of them are, of course). Haven't been to Raleigh in a while, though. I love to drive (good thing as a musician). Road trips are nothing new to me having driven from Charlotte to the Ohio/West Virginia border regularly for visiting old family. However, I won't plan on driving a DeLorean from Raleigh to New Orleans without a backup vehicle! (Or stopping off in Charlotte to show off the new purchase.) Slant-6 ... it powered the vehicle I was practically born in. First car I was familiar with: 1964 Dart. The engine refused to quit (well, after a ring job), but sadly everything else did. After that, a '78 Aspen, couple of crappy Chrysler wagons (I will never touch a four-cylinder again), and a van. Last car I operated on was a 1989 Voyager - good engine (Mitsu 3.3L), everything else was for naught IMHO. Haven't done much to the Ranger (yet!) besides maintenance. Getting a little rusty, though - it coughed the other day and it took me a little while to remember to check the air box. :P Owning a DeLorean would no doubt help me get my automotive chops back up. So would owning my other dream car: 1953 Buick Skylark convertible. Dunno about throwing a slant-6 in a DeLorean, though. (Would it even be compatible? And getting parts for the Dart was a pain even in the '70s.) At one time I gathered data for swapping it out with the '90s Premier/Monaco engine. I think somebody has already done that, though. I'd probably keep it stock w/ a few upgrades and restore it cosmetically over years of TLC. Most important thing would be to keep it running. I wanna put some miles on a DeLorean, to make up for all the ones sitting in garages. :) But enough about me.
