> So, has anyone removed the wide factory stripe and managed to do so in one piece? Yes. Used a heat gun. If you don't know what that is, it is kind of like an industrial hair dryer -- hot enough to light a cigarette. Heat the panel from the back side and the decal will lift off. Go slow and have patience. Some of the adhesive will stay on the decal and some will stick to the stainless. Once you get the decal off it will be stretched, i.e., way too long to fit back. Just heat the whole thing gently with the heat gun and it will shrink back. > And if so, any advice on how to reattach one thusly removed? Used spray contact cement. I think it was 3M Super Trim Adhesive or 3M Super 77. The results were very slightly lumpy in places. Be sure you remove all the old adhesive from the decal. Contact cement requires you to spray both surfaces, so you will need to spray the car too. It is easier to just over spray the panel and then use acetone to clean off the extra after the decal is attached. Do us a favor -- if you try this, write up a little tech article of your experience and mail it here. One of us will get it online. Photos would be extra credit. > Also, if anyone happens to have a set of wide side stripes (or at least the section for the right rear quarter panel) they're willing to part with, let me know. PJ Grady has had some broken up sets that they sell pieces of. Don't know if they still do that. Walt Yahoo!
