As far as I know, all production DeLoreans left the factory with the bolts
facing outwards (nuts on the outside of the frame.)

I have read about people installing bolts as per the diagram in the
manual.
It doesn't look to me like there is enough room in there to fit the bolts
through this direction.  Maybe they had the trailing arms off or maybe
they
had the body off the frame.  Functionally, it shouldn't matter either way.

But since you are the one with the Porsche 6 speed manual tranny shoved in
there like a barium enema, you might have some unusual space constraints.
