Friend has bad habit of doing too much for too little. That's why he's so overworked. If your welding is just a Saturday project might do it for cost of steel. To be honest, his time is much more valuable to him than money. Would get best response if you engineer repair before hand, then all he has to do is build to your design. Make some full size poster or cardboard templates to test fit necessary pieces. Am sure would want to weld in Arlington. He has a *NICE* aluminum auto trailer, so transportation shouldn't be an issue. Doodlebug in middle of garage, held up by sawhorses (the thing is *PITIFUL*), so would have to work in driveway. Business as usual for us, eh? Of course I have yet to mention any of this to him... Remember: you can't weld to rust. Some of your repair may need to be bolted on. Try hard as possible to reduce his participation to cutting & welding only and this may work.
