If there's anything a 460 is not, it's a diesel. Nuclear power plant maybe, but certainly not a diesel. This is what's driving me crazy with PRV. My 460's idle smooth as silk. 500-600 RPM no variation. (Lincoln doesn't give you a dash tach because you don't need one. Just set it by ear and forget about it for the next 20 years). Forward vacuum system ends up in a heap in my driveway so they may get a tad fussy at 32 degrees until warmed up, but that's only a 5 minute proposition (and how often does my little southern town see freezing anyway?) In theory the little silver car should do same. I'm close, but not there yet. Can take all wander out by bumping up RPM's (remember I have fast idle valve), that's why I was convinced was vacuum leak not CPR. Sure enough, hit everything again last night and it stumbled in middle of intake manifold. Frustrating. Looking through my industrial supply catalog came across seals with large curved lip, like fat belt weatherstripping. Are designed to wipe shafts of hydraulic cylinders clean as they move. Wonder if they might not seal better than round O ring? Are only $2, so wouldn't hurt to buy a couple in case. And if do I manage to reseal stupid thing AGAIN, may leave well enough alone (or switch to gentler test solvent such as electrical contact cleaner). Traditional gasket material shrugs acetone off, as do the fuel line hoses I use in lieu of traditional vacuum hoses, but may be too much for PRV. For life of me can't remember why I started messing with it again. Thanksgiving trip was totally uneventful, even at 28 degrees (DC was in middle of cold snap). Must have been part of engineering on aux air valve (did have idle bumped up that trip, which is where I got idea for valve in first place).
