Given the cost difference for a diesel engine here, it would take me a very long time to see a return on the up front cost, even though I put a ton of miles on a vehicle each year. I still want one though. >>I am looking at buying a new truck and I want a diesel, but that >>alone is a $7,000.00 (4,430.37 GBP?) option. >> >OWCH. What would be the price difference of a diesel versus petrol vehicle across the pond? >Superchargers run out of puff up at the top end, so a turbo'd car will >always produce more power, all other things being equal. I guess it just depends on where you do most of your driving. With the supercharger you have it at the pedal immediately, on the low end, and the turbo has to spool up and build manifold pressure. I agree though, if you spend a lot of time at the higher speeds you would probably benefit more with the turbo. Plus, it's not as parasitic at lower speeds. I found an interesting comparison... http://www.prolexperformance.com/nav/resources/supercharger/fact_sheet.htm l ...but I still love the whine of a supercharger :) Greg Yahoo!
