Usually a lot of the noise comes from the throw-out bearing. I had a bad
throw-out bearing in my old Mustang that drove me nuts enough to pull
the tranny and replace it. You can test if it is your throw-out bearing
by putting pressure on the clutch pedal and see if it goes away or gets
louder.
